Dr. Alex Chan , N.D.

Dr. Alex Chan is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor. She helped initiate the first-certified Naturopathic Residency Program in British Columbia. She completed a two-year residency at Integrative before joining the clinic in full-time private practice.

Dr. Chan received her Bachelors of Science in Cell Biology and Genetics at the University of British Columbia, and is a graduate of the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon.

Dr. Chan is trained as a Primary Care Physician with a background in:

Dr. Chan recognized a need for integrative healthcare for complex chronic illness such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, cancer and Lyme disease. These conditions often require a functional medicine approach that involves both conventional therapies and naturopathic perspectives.

She has dedicated herself to specific training in the field of Oncology and has extensive knowledge of intravenous therapies and Insulin Potentiation Therapy. She uses the full range of services available at Integrative to treat these complexities which includes:

Each patient receives a unique treatment protocol that is personally tailored and addresses both their disease and the whole person. Dr. Chan has received additional training in advanced intravenous nutrition, neural prolotherapy, insulin potentiation therapy, applied kinesiology and manipulative techniques.

Dr. Chan has both, a personal and professional, interest in athletic and health optimization. In order to help patients achieve peak performance, she addresses biochemical, structural, and mental aspects of health. She has extensive knowledge of Paleo and ketogenic nutrition, as well as various biohacking techniques. She is the developer and co-founder of Himalayan Hydration, a sports drink line made entirely from whole food ingredients, free of artificial sweeteners, chemicals, and preservatives.

Growing up in a family of complementary health care practitioners, I knew from a young age that I wanted to become a Naturopathic Doctor. I respect the wisdom of the body and believe that with the right tools, we can promote self-healing. I have a particular interest in the utilization of Naturopathic Medicine, alongside conventional care, to promote health. With this integrated and complementary philosophy, I am drawn to common chronic conditions, such as coronary artery disease, heart disease and type II diabetes, that are intrinsically linked with lifestyle management.


Additionally, I have a particular interest in complex chronic disease like cancer and Lyme disease. Cancer is a growing epidemic that affects 1 in 3 people in North American society. Many people, including myself, have watched loved ones battle with cancer diagnoses and wished there was something they could do beyond the conventional treatment. To this end, I have sought out specific training to provide care for cancer patients; I utilize natural supplements, intravenous therapies, and targeted nutrition as needed to address the primary illness, as well as side effects from conventional therapy.

Outside of Integrative, I am the co-founder of Hydrator Elite, an electrolyte drink company aimed at providing the healthiest sports rehydration option on the market. I am fascinated by the biohacking trend and interested in looking at all aspects of health and athletic optimization.
