EBOO for Chronic Inflammation: A Natural Approach for Systemic Relief

Regenerative Medicine, EBOO Therapy

In my naturopathic practice at Integrative, I work with patients who are often navigating persistent symptoms that involve multiple systems—fatigue that feels unrelenting, constant brain fog that disrupts daily function, a sense of being inflamed or “off” without a clear cause. Often, what underlies these experiences is chronic, low-grade inflammation. It’s a thread that connects conditions like autoimmune disease, long COVID, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS/ME), and infections such as Lyme disease (1).

When inflammation becomes a long-term pattern, it shifts the body into a sustained stress state. Over time, this disrupts immune function, mitochondrial energy production, detoxification, and even emotional regulation. What I appreciate about EBOO—Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation—is that it meets these complex challenges with a multifaceted and whole-body approach-rather than a single-target intervention.

EBOO is an advanced form of ozone therapy in which blood is gently removed from the body, ozonated, passed through a dialysis-like filter, exposed to ultraviolet light, and then returned. This process promotes oxygenation, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and detoxification effects. It works through a hermetic response where a stimulating a mild oxidative signal can encourage the body to activate its antioxidant defences, enhance mitochondrial resilience, and modulate immune responses that have become dysregulated (2)(3).

In patients with autoimmune conditions, where the immune system is overactive and misdirected, this recalibration can reduce tissue damage and restore immune intelligence. In cases of long COVID or chronic infections, where inappropriate inflammatory markers and pathogen persistence are common, EBOO supports the immune system in regaining its clarity and strength. Additionally, the UV component and filtration help reduce microbial load and clear inflammatory waste, which are important aspects when addressing biofilm-related infections like Lyme (4).

What these conditions share is not only inflammation, but also:

• Disruption of energy metabolism at the cellular level
• Circulatory stagnation and poor tissue oxygenation
• Difficulty with detoxification and elimination
• A nervous system locked in stress-mode, impairing healing

EBOO’s ability to interface with all of these systems makes it a valuable tool in my therapeutic toolkit. It's not a standalone cure, but rather a catalyst—helping patients move from a stuck, inflamed state toward one of greater clarity and capacity for healing.

Studies on ozone therapy, including small pilot trials in long COVID, show promise in reducing inflammatory markers such as IL-6 and TNF-alpha, improving oxygen delivery, and reversing endothelial dysfunction (5). While research is still emerging, clinically I've seen that many patients report improved stamina, clearer thinking, and less pain after a series of treatments.

It’s important to approach any therapy with the understanding that healing is not linear, and the body responds best when care is both targeted and gentle. EBOO offers us a way to support this deeper reset, allowing the immune system to find its rhythm again.

If you are navigating chronic illness, EBOO may offer the kind of whole-body support that allows your system to recover from a place of depletion and inflammation and move toward vitality.
