Using Natural Cosmetics for Beautiful Skin

Beauty

Today, Jacqueline Parker contributes to our blog with a post about natural skincare.

Jacqueline started Beauty Reawakened, a business committed to 'reawakening your beauty routine' with natural, toxin-free make-up and skincare products. She meets with clients one-on-one to provide education about toxic chemicals to avoid when choosing skin-care products and natural alternatives, advice on how to apply natural make-up, as well as recommendations regarding color choices based on your skin and eye color.

Dr. Maya Kuczma recently met with Jacqueline and completely revamped her skin-care & cosmetic routine with natural and health-conscious products. For those of you looking to take a more natural approach to your beauty routine but feel overwhelmed as to where to begin, contact Jacqueline to get started today!

Glowing skin comes from the inside out, however we must also treat our skin with love and respect on the outside (plus who doesn't love to indulge in beautiful skin care products?)

It’s Jacqueline Parker here from Beauty Reawakened - Organic Makeup Artistry. I deal with skin every single day, it is my canvas. After years in the beauty industry the one thing I have noticed on the majority of my clients faces is their skin. The eyes are a gateway to the soul, but skin means a whole lot more!

Skin can tell us so many things whether it is hydration levels (are you drinking enough water?), consistent diet (are you eating your dark left greens?), clean skin care regime (are you using nutrient rich and clean cosmetics?). There are a few steps I took to control and maintain healthy skin, which now benefits me in more ways than simply not needing to wear any face makeup (yay!) and I am going to share them with you today.

Cutting out toxins is key

When I cut out toxic makeup and skin care products from my beauty regime, I noticed a major difference in the texture of my skin. It became softer, brighter and more alive. I started to notice that I no longer needed to use even a quarter of the amount of product I was using to begin with. Here are a few of my favourite clean beauty makeup & skincare products:

Indulging in fats for my skin

Thats right! not only do I eat healthy fats to benefit my skin, I also use these fats on my skin. Polyunsaturated fats are key to producing the skin's natural oil barrier, keeping skin hydrated, plump, and younger looking. My favourite topical skin fats are: Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Avocado and Gamma Linolenic Acid. Here is a recipe for a fat face mask:

Following a skin care regime everyday

Hands up if you are guilty of passing out before removing your makeup at night! We all are, here and there - however I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a consistent skin care regime! Here is an example of a simple and complex regime:

Simple Regime (3 step system)

1. Makeup Remover

2. Creamy skin cleanser

3. Hydrating Moisturizer+ SPF during the day

Complex Regime (4+ system)

1. Makeup Remover

2. Creamy Cleanser

3. Skin Hydrolat or PH balancing toner

4. Hydrating Serum (Hyaluronic Acid for moisture, Vitamin C for aging skin)

5. Moisturizer+SPF during the day+Weekly skin exfoliant
