5 Reasons to See a Naturopathic Doctor
Wellness, Mind Health, Health, EducationIf you’ve heard of naturopathy, but haven’t had a visit with a Naturopathic Doctor (ND), you may be wondering if working with an ND is a good fit for you. It may feel intimidating to seek out a different medical system, or to commit to the associated costs.
Here at Integrative, we welcome everyone - whether they are new to naturopathy, or have grown up with NDs as part of their healthcare team. There are many reasons why naturopathic medicine could be helpful for you:1. A chance to discuss all of your health concerns
We have the luxury of time, specifically when taking a detailed analysis of your health history during your initial visit. Your ND will have 30-60 minutes to discuss everything pertinent that has led you to this point, including childhood illnesses, surgeries, family health history, previous diagnosis and treatment, as well as all of your current symptoms. We believe symptoms are connected - the more we know, the better we can understand these connections, and uncover the root causes(s) of your ailments.
2. Investigation into the root cause of your symptoms
One of the guiding principles of naturopathic medicine is to identify and treat the root cause(s) of illness. By determining the root cause(s) of your symptoms, and addressing them, we can help you to break the cycle of pain and disease you are experiencing.
3. Access to specialized testing methods
At times, we may feel that we’re not at our best - and yet, our bloodwork or imaging results may all appear ‘normal’. NDs have access to many unique tests such as SIBO testing, detailed microbiome analysis, urine hormone metabolite panels, organic acid testing, urine mycotoxin testing, and food sensitivity testing - these tests may help identify a missing piece of the puzzle needed in order to fully address your symptoms.
4. Individualized treatment plan
Our NDs believe in collaboration, working with you to determine a treatment plan that addresses your health concerns, and fits within your budget and lifestyle. They will also follow-up with you, especially in the initial phases of your treatment plan, to ensure that you are responding well, and are able to commit to the changes they proposed.
5. Advice you can trust
NDs complete at least 7 years of post-secondary education, including 4 years at an accredited naturopathic medical school. Additionally, NDs are required to complete extensive continuing education every year in regards to many areas of practice, including pharmacy and emergency life-saving techniques. All of our doctors have also acquired additional certifications, completing specialized training in advanced injection techniques, intravenous therapies, ozone and oxidative therapies, medical aesthetics, and/or chelation therapy. They are all committed to continually expanding their knowledge and treatment toolbox to best serve their patients. Are you ready to start your journey to health? We're ready when you are.
