Curious About Microneedling?
Beauty, Skin HealthMicroneedling is a minimally invasive way to improve the look and feel of your skin, and it relies on your body's own repair process to do most of the work.
How it works
During a microneedling treatment, a device with very fine, sterile needles makes tiny punctures in the top layers of the skin. These micro-injuries prompt your skin to produce more collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for firmness and elasticity.
We naturally make less collagen as we get older, which contributes to fine lines, sagging, and rougher texture. Microneedling encourages the skin to rebuild some of that lost support.
What microneedling can help with
People usually come to us for microneedling to address fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, uneven tone or texture, and enlarged pores. It also helps your skincare products absorb more effectively, since the small channels created during treatment let serums reach deeper layers of the skin.
Results develop gradually. Many patients see brighter, smoother skin within a couple of weeks, and improvements continue for several months as new collagen forms.
Your appointment
Every treatment starts with a consultation. We'll go over your health history, current medications, skincare routine, and what you'd like to improve so we can confirm microneedling is a good fit.
On the day of treatment, we cleanse your skin and apply a numbing cream. You'll relax in a comfortable chair for about 30 minutes while the numbing takes effect. The microneedling itself takes 30 to 45 minutes, depending on how many areas we're treating.
Recovery and aftercare
Your skin will likely be red for one to three days, similar to a mild sunburn. Some light dryness or flaking is normal a few days after treatment.
To help your skin heal well, avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, and vitamin C serums for 7 days. Skip saunas, hot yoga, and hard workouts for a day or two, and wear sunscreen daily. We'll give you written aftercare instructions before you leave.
How many treatments?
Most people do best with a series of [3 to 6] sessions, spaced [4 to 6] weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments every 6 months. Your provider will recommend a schedule based on your goals.
Who shouldn't have microneedling
Microneedling is safe for most skin types and tones, but we may recommend waiting or choosing another option if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have active acne, cold sores, or infection in the treatment area, have taken isotretinoin (Accutane) in the last [6 to 12] months, have a history of keloid scarring, or are dealing with an eczema or rosacea flare.
